- About PRASIS
PRASIS is a mutual, run exclusively by Plastic Surgeons for the benefit of the plastic surgical community. It is owned and governed by our members, all of whom are on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery. PRASIS is strongly supported by the Chair and Clinical Board of Directors, the latter of which is responsible for the governance and strategy.
PRASIS is the largest community of indemnified Plastic Surgeons. It's sole aim is to protect plastic surgeons, by arranging an indemnity scheme and providing support and guidance to its members.
PRASIS has appointed The Medical Insurance Consultants (MIC), as its insurance broker because of their specialist expertise in professional indemnity insurance. The indemnity scheme is underwritten pre-dominantly by CFC Underwriting Ltd, the largest independent MGA in London, whose team of underwriters has extensive experience in medical indemnity. In order to provide a more streamlined, personal and holistic support to members when contacting the PRASIS Medicolegal helpline, Emily Borhan has been appointed as the Medicolegal advisor for PRASIS. Emily is a Senior Medical Negligence Advisor, with a wide experience of medical law, indemnity and medicolegal advice. She will be available to provide continuity to contacting members, supported by the insurer-appointed ‘out of hours’ medicolegal assistance. The helpline number is shown on your policy schedule and will be updated for all members as you renew. She can also be contacted by email on: email@example.com. The service is available during office hours for routine enquiries with an out of hours service for emergencies.
PRASIS membership meets all the requirements of independent sector hospitals and provides the level of protection you need and your patients deserve. As members, you are provided with contractual indemnity for clinical negligence and public liability claims as well as 25 years run off cover following death or permanent retirement from practice. Cover is also included for professional training activities, Cyber, GMC investigations disciplinary enquiries & inquests as well as HMRC investigations.
The policy provides cover of up to £10 million for any one claim and in the annual aggregate, including costs, in any policy year*.
*All benefits are subject to policy terms and conditions.
